Sneak Peek: Heather Ross for Walden Surfboards

My mermaids really needed a new home. New York is just too chilly in the wintertime, the bathtubs are tiny, and finding a condo board that will approve a pet seahorse is just impossible. So when Walden Surfboards asked me to design a collection for their Artists Series, we were all thrilled. The line officially launches in a few short weeks and boards will start showing up in surfshops soon after, but because Walden makes every single board by hand in their Venice, California, workshop custom orders can be placed any time. And yes, they will sell a board that is intended as wall decor, but why wouldn't you just add "learn to surf" to your list of 2010 resolutions?

Thanks goes out to Brooke for her help with the designs and layouts!

I promise a more thorough post after the launch, but here are a few images to help getting us all thinking of spring and beachy mid-winter breaks...

I love the new heading its very funny. Your drawings are always so entertaining. Wouldn't surfing be fun, I would love to learn how to do that.

What a fabulous idea!!! Mendocino is my all time favorite fabric- I had it for several months before I would even cut it!!! My husband and I just bought a home at the beach- I could decorate an entire house around that board!!! xoxo

I grew up by the water, so you would think that I would know how to surf...but no. Love the boards.

I want a key chain like that... you know, since I don't surf and don't live near a surf. At least a key chain will make me feel cool to have me some HR artwork.

I have wanted to learn to surf for about the past five years. We have family friends that go out almost every weekend... I think that board might be just the extra push I needed to make this the year. I mean, I already have a coordinating beach bag!

morning from australia,
off the mark, heather, but i was after your opinion on sewing your summer dress pattern in the far away fabric instead of the mendicino? think it would work or be too thin ?

Tried to link to Walden, but my security software said their site was infected with a trojan virus, don't know if you can pass this on to them.
